- 12 lasagna noodles
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups milk
- 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 4 ounces provolone cheese, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- To assemble, spread a thin layer of white sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Arrange 3-4 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
- Top with half of the shredded chicken.
- Pour about 1 cup of white sauce over the chicken.
- Sprinkle with half of the mozzarella and provolone cheeses.
- Repeat layers.
- Top with the remaining noodles, white sauce, and cheeses.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use whole milk.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg to the white sauce for extra depth.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
