Description

A simple recipe for a warm apple crisp made without dairy or gluten.


Ingredients

  • 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup gluten-free rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup gluten-free all-purpose flour blend
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cold vegan butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Lightly grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and cinnamon. Place the apple mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the gluten-free oats, gluten-free flour, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and nutmeg.
  4. Cut in the cold vegan butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
  6. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  7. Let the crisp cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can use any firm apple variety for this recipe, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vegan vanilla ice cream if desired.
