Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the 1/2 cup butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the 1/2 cup milk, beginning and ending with the dry mixture. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Spoon the batter evenly into the prepared muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cupcakes cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- To make the frosting, beat the 1/4 cup butter until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, alternating with the 2 tablespoons of milk. Beat until the frosting is smooth and spreadable.
- Once the cupcakes are completely cool, frost them as desired.
