Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken pieces
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, ginger, chili flakes, and black pepper for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat cooking oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear chicken pieces until browned on all sides.
  4. Add brown sugar and water to the pan.
  5. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 20-25 minutes, or until chicken is tender.
  6. Uncover and simmer for another 5-10 minutes to thicken the sauce.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.

Notes

  • Adjust chili flakes for desired spice level.
  • For a deeper flavor, marinate chicken overnight.
