Description

Festive deviled eggs perfect for patriotic celebrations, featuring a red, white, and blue theme.


Ingredients

  • 12 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • Small star-shaped cookie cutter (optional)
  • Fresh chives or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place eggs in a large pot and cover with cold water.
  2. Bring water to a boil, then immediately remove from heat, cover, and let stand for 12 minutes.
  3. Drain hot water and fill the pot with ice water to cool the eggs quickly.
  4. Peel the cooled eggs and slice them in half lengthwise.
  5. Carefully remove the yolks and place them in a medium bowl.
  6. Mash the yolks with a fork until smooth.
  7. Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper to the mashed yolks. Mix until well combined and creamy.
  8. Divide the yolk mixture into three small bowls.
  9. Leave one bowl plain (white).
  10. Add a few drops of red food coloring to the second bowl and mix until the desired red color is achieved.
  11. Add a few drops of blue food coloring to the third bowl and mix until the desired blue color is achieved.
  12. Spoon or pipe the plain white yolk mixture into half of the egg white halves.
  13. Spoon or pipe the red yolk mixture into a quarter of the egg white halves.
  14. Spoon or pipe the blue yolk mixture into the remaining quarter of the egg white halves.
  15. Garnish with fresh chives or use a small star cutter to make shapes from a red or blue bell pepper slice and place on top (optional).
  16. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For vibrant colors, use gel food coloring.
  • Adjust the amount of mayonnaise for your desired consistency.
  • Ensure eggs are fully cooled before peeling for easier removal of the shell.
