Description

A rich hot chocolate recipe flavored with maple syrup and warm spices.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine milk, cocoa powder, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt in a medium saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, whisking constantly until it is hot and the cocoa powder is fully dissolved. Do not let it boil.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a thicker drink, reduce the amount of milk slightly or add 1 teaspoon of cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon of cold water before heating.
