Description
A simple recipe for making hot dog chili using a slow cooker.

- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 (15 ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 (4 ounce) can green chilies, undrained
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 pound hot dogs, sliced into rounds
Instructions
- Place ground beef and chopped onion in the slow cooker.
- Pour tomato sauce, kidney beans, pinto beans, and green chilies over the meat mixture.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper, if using.
- Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
- About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the sliced hot dogs.
- Continue cooking until the hot dogs are heated through.
- Serve hot over hot dogs or as a side dish.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to control the heat level.
- For a thicker chili, remove the lid for the last 30 minutes of cooking.
