Description
A simple recipe combining classic Sloppy Joe filling with melted cheese between grilled bread.
Ingredients

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 slices sandwich bread
- 8 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions
- Cook ground beef and onion in a skillet over medium heat until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place four slices of bread, butter-side down, in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Top each slice with two slices of cheese, then a portion of the Sloppy Joe mixture.
- Top with the remaining four slices of bread, butter-side up.
- Grill for 3 to 4 minutes per side, until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Cut in half and serve immediately.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey for ground beef.
- Use your favorite type of cheese that melts well.
