Description

A sweet bread featuring a pumpkin spice base with a rich cinnamon swirl throughout.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for swirl)
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter (for swirl)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for swirl)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, granulated sugar, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. For the swirl, mix the brown sugar, softened butter, and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon in a small bowl until crumbly.
  6. Pour half of the pumpkin batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  7. Sprinkle the cinnamon swirl mixture evenly over the batter.
  8. Pour the remaining pumpkin batter over the swirl mixture.
  9. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the top layer of batter a few times.
  10. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a moister bread, you can substitute applesauce for some of the oil.
  • If the top browns too quickly during baking, loosely cover it with aluminum foil for the last 15 minutes.
