Description
A quick and easy sandwich combining the flavors of a Philly cheesesteak with the sauciness of sloppy joes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 4 slices provolone cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and bell pepper; cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook and break up the meat until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Stir in garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, and water. Bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Spoon the meat mixture onto the bottom half of each bun.
- Place one slice of provolone cheese over the meat mixture on each bun. Top with the remaining bun halves.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a more authentic flavor, use thinly sliced ribeye steak instead of ground beef.
- You can substitute Swiss cheese for provolone if desired.
