- 6 ripe peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for peaches)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for peaches)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced peaches, 1 cup sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 2 tablespoons flour. Mix well.
- Pour the peach mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually stir in the milk until a soft dough forms.
- Drop spoonfuls of the dough over the peach mixture.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peaches are bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use fresh, ripe peaches for the best flavor.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
