Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning
  • 2 1/4 cups water
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, salsa, chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef in a large pot over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in chopped onion and cook until softened.
  3. Add taco seasoning, water, and tomato sauce. Bring to a boil.
  4. Stir in uncooked macaroni. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until pasta is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in shredded Cheddar cheese until melted.
  6. Serve warm with optional toppings.
