Description

A simple, one-pot meal featuring ground beef and pasta shells in a cheesy sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 ounces medium pasta shells
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot. Cook until the onion softens, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the tomato sauce, beef broth, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. Add the pasta shells to the boiling liquid. Stir well.
  5. Reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  6. Remove the pot from the heat. Stir in the cheddar cheese and Monterey Jack cheese until melted and creamy.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use low-sodium beef broth.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or ground sausage for the ground beef.
