Ingredients

  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  5. Pour in crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for at least 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Serve the sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Top with Parmesan cheese.
