Ingredients

- 1 pound spaghetti
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for at least 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve the sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Top with Parmesan cheese.
Notes
- For a richer sauce, you can add a splash of red wine to the simmering sauce.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
