- ½ cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Pour batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the ganache, place chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl.
- Heat heavy cream in a small saucepan until simmering. Pour hot cream over chocolate chips. Let stand for 5 minutes, then whisk until smooth.
- Pour ganache over the cooled cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
