Description

Baked pumpkin donuts topped with a simple maple glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a donut pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk the granulated sugar and egg until pale. Mix in the pumpkin puree, milk, and melted butter until just combined.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just incorporated. Do not overmix.
  5. Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each mold about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. To make the glaze, whisk together the maple syrup and powdered sugar until smooth.
  9. Dip the top of each cooled donut into the glaze. Let the glaze set before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute melted coconut oil for the melted butter.
  • For a stronger maple flavor, use pure maple extract in the donut batter.
