Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups warm water (105-115°F)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Let stand for 5 minutes, or until foamy.
- Stir in flour, olive oil, and salt. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down dough and turn onto a lightly floured surface. Divide into two equal portions.
- Shape each portion into a ball. Let rest for 10 minutes before shaping into pizza crusts.
Notes
- You can use bread flour for a chewier crust.
- Allow dough to rise in the refrigerator overnight for a slower, more flavorful rise.
- This recipe makes two 12-inch pizza crusts.
