Description
A simple recipe for a satisfying burrito filled with seasoned ground beef, melted cheese, and refried beans.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 can (16 ounces) refried beans
- 8 large flour tortillas
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream (optional)
- 1/4 cup salsa (optional)
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
- Stir in the taco seasoning mix and water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the liquid is mostly absorbed.
- Warm the refried beans slightly in a separate small saucepan or microwave.
- Warm the flour tortillas according to package directions (usually briefly in a dry skillet or microwave).
- Lay a warm tortilla flat. Spread a spoonful of refried beans down the center.
- Top the beans with a portion of the seasoned ground beef.
- Sprinkle generously with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Fold in the sides of the tortilla, then roll tightly from the bottom up to seal the burrito.
- Repeat with remaining ingredients. Serve immediately with sour cream and salsa, if desired.
Notes
- For crispier burritos, lightly grill or pan-fry the assembled burritos seam-side down until golden brown.
- You can substitute Monterey Jack or a Mexican blend cheese for cheddar.
