Description
A quick and easy one-pan meal that captures the classic flavors of a Philly cheesesteak.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound thinly sliced beef sirloin or ribeye
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 4 ounces provolone cheese, sliced
- 4 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 4 hoagie rolls, split
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
- Add onion and bell peppers to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, and thyme. Cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Return beef to the skillet. Stir to combine.
- Top the beef and vegetable mixture with provolone and mozzarella cheeses. Cover the skillet and cook until cheese is melted and bubbly, about 3-5 minutes.
- While the cheese is melting, melt butter in a separate small skillet over medium heat. Toast the hoagie rolls until golden brown.
- Serve the Philly cheese beef mixture on the toasted hoagie rolls.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the beef mixture.
- If you don’t have hoagie rolls, crusty French bread or even sturdy buns will work.
