A flavorful delight patty melt recipe.
Ingredients

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 slices rye bread
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, chopped onion, bread crumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into four patties.
- Butter one side of each slice of rye bread.
- Place two slices of bread, butter-side down, in a skillet over medium heat.
- Top each with a patty, then a slice of Swiss cheese.
- Place the remaining two slices of bread on top, butter-side up.
- Cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a tablespoon of Dijon mustard to the meat mixture.
- Caramelized onions can be used instead of raw chopped onion for a sweeter taste.
