Description

A flavorful delight patty melt recipe.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 slices rye bread
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef, chopped onion, bread crumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into four patties.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of rye bread.
  3. Place two slices of bread, butter-side down, in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Top each with a patty, then a slice of Swiss cheese.
  5. Place the remaining two slices of bread on top, butter-side up.
  6. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a tablespoon of Dijon mustard to the meat mixture.
  • Caramelized onions can be used instead of raw chopped onion for a sweeter taste.
