Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Optional toppings: chopped green onions, sesame seeds, kimchi

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. While the beef is cooking, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and black pepper in a small bowl.
  3. Pour the sauce over the browned ground beef in the skillet. Stir to combine.
