- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Cooked rice, for serving
- Optional toppings: chopped green onions, sesame seeds, kimchi
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- While the beef is cooking, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and black pepper in a small bowl.
- Pour the sauce over the browned ground beef in the skillet. Stir to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Serve the Korean ground beef over cooked rice. Garnish with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
- This recipe is easily doubled for a larger crowd.
