Description

Easy to make funnel cake bites that taste like a fairground delight.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Pour the batter into a squeeze bottle or a piping bag with a small round tip.
  6. Carefully squeeze the batter into the hot oil in a circular or random pattern to create small cakes.
  7. Fry for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove the funnel cake bites with a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack set over paper towels to drain.
  9. Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
