- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Combine water, butter, and salt in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat until butter is melted and mixture is boiling.
- Remove from heat and stir in flour until a smooth ball forms.
- Transfer dough to a bowl and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into the hot oil.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove churros with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Combine sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish. Toss warm churros in cinnamon sugar mixture.
Notes
- For crispier churros, fry them for an extra minute.
- Serve immediately with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping.
- Ensure the oil is at the correct temperature before frying to prevent greasy churros.
