- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Add ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off any excess fat.
- Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Add kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and chicken broth to the pot.
- Stir in diced apple, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust seasonings if needed before serving.
Notes
- For a thicker chili, remove the lid during the last 15 minutes of cooking.
- Serve with your favorite toppings like shredded cheese or sour cream.
