Description

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
  2. Add ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off any excess fat.
  3. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  5. Add kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and chicken broth to the pot.
  6. Stir in diced apple, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  7. Bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed before serving.

Notes

  • For a thicker chili, remove the lid during the last 15 minutes of cooking.
  • Serve with your favorite toppings like shredded cheese or sour cream.
