Description

A simple recipe for making seasoned ground turkey tacos.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 12 taco shells (hard or soft)
  • Toppings: lettuce, shredded cheese, salsa, sour cream

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  4. Add ground turkey to the skillet. Break it up with a spoon and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  5. Stir in the taco seasoning mix and water.
  6. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the liquid has mostly evaporated and the meat is well coated.
  7. Warm taco shells according to package directions.
  8. Spoon the turkey mixture into the taco shells.
  9. Add your desired toppings.

Notes

  • You can substitute your favorite homemade taco seasoning blend for the packet.
  • For extra flavor, add 1/4 cup of drained canned black beans with the meat.
