Description
A sweet and fluffy bread with a crunchy cinnamon topping.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and granulated sugar. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in melted butter, egg, and salt.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- While dough rises, prepare the topping: In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Cut in softened butter until crumbly. Stir in pecans if using.
- Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a loaf. Place in a greased 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- Spread the cinnamon crunch topping evenly over the dough.
- Cover the pan and let the dough rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For an extra moist bread, you can brush the top with a simple glaze of powdered sugar and milk after it has cooled slightly.
- Ensure your yeast is fresh for the best rise.
