- 1 box (15.25 ounces) yellow cake mix
- 1 can (15 ounces) pumpkin puree
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup water
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tub (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 1 package (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 1/2 cups cold milk
Instructions
- Prepare the cake layer: Mix the cake mix, pumpkin puree, spices, oil, eggs, and water according to the cake mix directions. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9×13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool completely.
- Prepare the cream cheese layer: Beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Spread this mixture evenly over the cooled cake layer.
- Prepare the pudding layer: Whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix with the cold milk until thickened, about 2 minutes. Gently spread the pudding mixture over the cream cheese layer.
- Top the dessert with the thawed whipped topping. Chill for at least 2 hours before slicing and serving.
Notes
- You can decorate the top with a light dusting of cinnamon before serving.
- Make this dessert a day ahead for easier assembly and chilling.
