Description
A large, soft sugar cookie base decorated for a celebration.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 batch royal icing or buttercream frosting
- Sprinkles or edible decorations
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Grease and flour a 12-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cookie cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before carefully transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once completely cool, frost the cake with your chosen icing and decorate with sprinkles.
Notes
- For a thicker cookie, use a 10-inch pan instead of a 12-inch pan, which may require a slightly longer baking time.
- You can chill the dough for 30 minutes before pressing it into the pan for easier handling.
