- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1 cup sour cream
- For the Streusel Topping:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Alternately add the dry ingredients and the sour cream to the wet ingredients, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Prepare the streusel topping: In a separate bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle half of the streusel topping over the batter in the pan.
- Spread the remaining batter over the streusel layer.
- Sprinkle the remaining streusel topping over the top layer of batter.
- Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For an extra moist cake, you can add 1/4 cup of milk to the batter if it seems too thick.
- Ensure your butter is at the correct temperature for the best results.
- The streusel topping can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.
