Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box white cake mix (plus ingredients to prepare cake)
- 1 (3 ounce) box strawberry gelatin
- 1 (3 ounce) box lime gelatin
- 1 (3 ounce) box orange gelatin
- 4 cups boiling water, divided
- 1 (8 ounce) container whipped topping, thawed
- Sprinkles for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare and bake cake according to package directions in a 9×13 inch baking pan. Let cool completely.
- Once cooled, use the handle of a wooden spoon or a skewer to poke holes evenly over the top of the cake, about 1 inch apart.
- In three separate bowls, dissolve each gelatin flavor (strawberry, lime, orange) in 1 1/3 cups boiling water. Stir each until fully dissolved.
- Carefully pour each color of gelatin into different holes on the cake, alternating colors to create a vibrant pattern.
- Refrigerate the cake for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the gelatin to set.
- Before serving, spread the thawed whipped topping evenly over the top of the cake.
- Garnish with sprinkles if desired.
- Slice and serve cold.
Notes
- For best results, chill the cake overnight.
- You can use different flavored gelatins to customize the colors and flavors.
- Ensure the cake is completely cool before poking holes and adding gelatin.
- A skewer or the back of a wooden spoon works well for poking holes.
