Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup water or milk
- 1 chai tea bag
- 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso shot
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or sweetener
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of ground cardamom
- Optional: splash of milk for creaminess
Instructions
- Combine oats, water or milk, and chai tea bag in a small saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat to low.
- Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are cooked and the liquid is absorbed. Remove the tea bag during the last minute of cooking.
- Stir in the maple syrup, cinnamon, and cardamom.
- Pour the cooked oatmeal into a bowl.
- Carefully pour the brewed coffee or espresso shot over the top of the oatmeal.
- Add an optional splash of milk if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Use whole milk or a non-dairy alternative for a richer texture.
- Adjust sweetener to your taste preference.
- For a stronger chai flavor, steep the tea bag in hot water separately for 5 minutes before adding it to the oats.
