Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Whisk eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
  2. Dip each bread slice into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
  3. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Cook bread slices for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown. Keep warm.
  5. Wipe out the skillet. Add apple slices, brown sugar, and water to the skillet.
  6. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until apples soften and the sugar melts into a syrup, about 5-7 minutes.
  7. Serve the caramelized apples over the warm French toast.
