A rich and decadent dessert that combines the flavors of chocolate and caramel.

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- In a small bowl, whisk together buttermilk and hot water.
- Alternately add dry ingredients and wet ingredients to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Pour batter into the prepared baking pan.
- Swirl caramel sauce into the batter using a knife.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan before serving.
Notes
- You can use store-bought or homemade caramel sauce.
- For an extra decadent treat, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
