  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Crispy sesame balls are a delightful dessert. They are crunchy on the outside and chewy inside. A sweet red bean paste filling adds a pleasant contrast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • 2 tablespoons wheat starch
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 cup red bean paste
  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds
  • 4 cups vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine glutinous rice flour, wheat starch, and sugar.
  2. Gradually add hot water, mixing until a dough forms. Knead until smooth.
  3. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces.
  4. Flatten each piece of dough and place a tablespoon of red bean paste in the center.
  5. Carefully wrap the dough around the filling, sealing it completely to form a ball.
  6. Roll each ball in sesame seeds, ensuring an even coating.
  7. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 325°F (160°C).
  8. Gently place the sesame balls into the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the pot.
  9. Fry for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Turn occasionally for even cooking.
  10. Remove the sesame balls with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  11. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil temperature is consistent for best results.
  • Do not overfill the pot to maintain oil temperature and allow even cooking.
  • You can adjust the amount of sugar in the dough to your preference.
