Description
A classic comfort food recipe for perfectly crispy and juicy country fried chicken.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 4 pieces each
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- In another shallow dish, whisk the eggs and milk.
- Dip each piece of chicken into the egg mixture, then dredge it in the flour mixture, ensuring it is fully coated.
- Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the skillet. Fry in batches if necessary.
- Fry for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and place it on a wire rack set over a baking sheet to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- For extra crispy chicken, double-dip the chicken in the egg and flour mixtures.
- Adjust the heat of the oil as needed to maintain a consistent frying temperature.
- Serve with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes or gravy.
