Description
A recipe for soft and sweet cinnamon rolls with a cream cheese frosting.

- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup milk
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in granulated sugar, melted butter, eggs, and salt. Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out into a 12×18 inch rectangle on a floured surface.
- In a medium bowl, mix together softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Spread this mixture evenly over the dough.
- Roll up the dough tightly, starting from the long side. Cut into 12 equal slices.
- Place the slices in a greased 9×13 inch baking pan. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the frosting. In a bowl, beat together cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Spread frosting over warm cinnamon rolls.
Notes
- For softer rolls, do not overbake.
- You can add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon filling for extra flavor.
- For a richer frosting, use heavy cream instead of milk.
