Description
A simple recipe for baked brie served inside a hollowed-out bread loaf, topped with cranberry sauce and fresh thyme.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 round brie cheese (about 8 oz)
- 1 round loaf sourdough or rustic bread (about 1.5 lbs)
- 1/2 cup cranberry sauce
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Pinch of black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Cut the top quarter off the bread loaf and set the top aside.
- Carefully hollow out the inside of the bread loaf, leaving a sturdy shell about 1 inch thick. Reserve the removed bread for dipping.
- Place the brie cheese inside the hollowed bread bowl.
- Spoon the cranberry sauce evenly over the top of the brie.
- Sprinkle the fresh thyme leaves and a pinch of black pepper over the cranberry sauce.
- Drizzle the olive oil lightly over the exposed bread edges.
- Place the bread top back on the loaf.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and soft.
- Serve immediately with the reserved bread pieces and any extra bread you removed for dipping.
Notes
- You can use any firm bread that can hold its shape, like a boule.
- If you prefer a crispier crust, brush the outside of the bread bowl with a little melted butter before baking.
- For extra flavor, mix a small amount of minced garlic into the olive oil before drizzling.
