Description
Sweet and sticky cola-glazed chicken drumsticks perfect for a 4th of July BBQ.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds chicken drumsticks
- 1 (12 ounce) can cola-flavored carbonated beverage
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with foil.
- Arrange chicken drumsticks on the prepared baking sheet. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a medium saucepan, combine cola, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened into a glaze.
- Brush half of the glaze over the chicken drumsticks.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Brush the remaining glaze over the chicken.
- Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the glaze is sticky and caramelized.
- Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For extra smoky flavor, grill the drumsticks instead of baking them.
- Adjust the amount of brown sugar to your desired sweetness.
- This glaze is also great on chicken wings or pork ribs.
